Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage includes a combination of different massage styles and techniques such as myofascial release, stretches, deep tissue and techniques from several other massage styles. This massage has a therapeutic effect causing tight muscles and muscle groups to relieve. Each massage therapy session will be adapted to the client’s needs determined prior to the massage session.

Thai Massage

Traditional Thai Massage is based on energy flow cycling through the body. Blockages in the energy lines cause energy to stagnate creating muscle tension, fatigue and disease. With the application of rhythmic pressure on the energy lines in combination with extensive stretches of muscles and joints (sometimes compared to Yoga stretches), blockages can be cleared and the natural energy flow will be restored. The body will equilibrate to a natural balance and well-being.

The client is fully and comfortably dressed during the entire massage and is lying on a special Thai Massage mat. Sessions last from 60 minutes up to two hours. After a visit at Counterbalance Therapy, the client feels regenerated and energized. Please make sure to bring comfortable clothing to your Thai Massage.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage focuses on some of the unique physical needs of the mother-to-be and is much more than just a luxury. Prenatal massage is extremely beneficial and welcomed by pregnant women as their body goes through significant changes. Massage helps to relax, alleviates swelling and minimizes the impact of stress on their bodies. Prenatal massage relieves tensions and pains that come along with the growing belly and the resulting postural distortions. The real benefits of the massage are from regular sessions throughout the pregnancy.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a gentle form of massage with the purpose of relaxation. Very light pressure is used in the Swedish massage.

Aromatherapy Massage combines essential oils with any massage therapy form harmonizing body and mind. The oils are specially formulated to enhance specific effects based on the client’s needs. A calming, stimulating, pain relieving, decongesting, uplifting, or toning effect may be achieved depending on the applied essential oil.

Additionally, this therapy form especially boosts muscle performance and shortens recovery time between workouts.

Sacred Lomi Lomi Massage

(Hawaiian massage)

Lomi means to wave and the massage is a continuous, wavelike flow of forearm strokes applied over the client’s body. From head to toe, the long strokes vary in speed, pressure, and direction promoting profound relaxation and release of tensions. Gentle stretches and movement of various joints help to increase mobility in the joints and muscles. Sacred Lomi Lomi is very nurturing and the wavelike movements produce an overall sense of calmness, a general well-being, and an increase of the lymphatic and blood circulation.

Lymphatic Cleanse Massage with G5 Lypossage Machine (FDA approved)

With the newest technologies out dealing with cellulite (dysfunction of body toxins and fat cells of the skin), much has been discovered in the way of keeping our Lymphatic System clean.  Why do we need this?  Our bodies deal with deadly bacteria, viruses and cancer cells every day and we never even know it because our Lymphatic System does all the processing work for us.  Having a great immune system starts with having a clean Lymphatic System.

What makes a sluggish Lymphatic System: dehydration, hormone imbalance, constipation, excessive consumption of alcohol and carbohydrates or potentially medications, lack of physical movement, tobacco and many more.

What can you do: Detox, move your body, hydrate, eat in moderation and milk your Lymphatic system regularly.

Hot Stone Massage

Just as heating pads and cold compresses aid in achy pain relief, the use of hot stones during a massage is very similar. Warming up major energy points and individual spots of the body, then firmly working through tightness and tension with the stones in hand.

Hot stone massage greatly promotes a multitude of benefits including calming the nerves, alleviating stress, increases circulation, improves concentration, and reduces other painful conditions.

Together, the client and therapist will address areas of pain or soreness while smooth, flat rocks are heated in a regulated warmer. In a relaxing atmosphere, the hot stones are gently placed on the client’s back accordingly. Then, with a certain essential oil, the deep tissue massage commences.

Svedana – Steam Tent Therapy (Optional Add-On)

Steam is an extremely beneficial element when healing the body. Steam Tents have been used for decades by different cultures around the world, alleviating sore muscles and joints, relieving chronic disease such as arthritis and fibromyalgia; aids in weight loss, stress reduction, and enhances moods. Not to mention, steam therapy detoxify the body, therefore improving skin and increasing the immune system.

Steam treatment allows the client to slip into a deeper state of relaxation. As the body tissue warms up, the muscles relax, increasing blood circulation and oxygen. Used as a detox system, pores open up and the sweat glands excrete bodily wastes. Steam treatment promotes the same benefits as exercise by increasing B-Endorphins, burns calories and promotes a healthier heart rate, metabolism, and increased cardiac output.

The steam tent is either upright in a standing position, or utilized as a cover over the massage table, covering the full body, excluding the client’s head. An optional scalp massage is included, promoting the full effect of treatment.

A special therapeutic blend of herbs, spices, and/or oils are diffused in the steam to exfoliate the skin and help restore and maintain elasticity and skin tone. The Steam Tent Treatment is followed by a rich, full body moisturizer that deeply penetrates the skin, locking in beneficial nutrients under the pores.
